MCA department was started in the year 1998 with an intake of 30 students. Intake has been increased to 60 in the year 2001.

  • The Department is located in a separate double storeyed PG block of 2,520 square metre on the South Western side of the administrative Block.
  • Department has 6 Class Rooms
  • Department has Computer Lab with 60 systems, Computer Centre with 60 Systems, and Research Lab with 15 systems.
  • Separate Library facility made available to students with 9298 books with 10 National Journals and e-journals like J-Gate and facilities such as Delnet (Exclusively for MCA).

Faculty Strength

Faculty strength is 7. At present, 3 staff members have completed their Doctorate degrees. At present 2 staff members have completed their 20 years service and 5 staff members have completed their 10 years service in the department.

Funds Received from AICTE

We have received a fund of Rs.3,21,000 for conducting Short Term Training Program in 3 Series.

Graduation Results:

MCA department has produced 100% graduation results 4 times in the years 2000, 2008, 2009 and 2011. Graduation result is more than 90% and above for all other batches except 2018.

National / International Conferences

MCA department has organized an International Conference ICIET’16 in association with Computer Science Engineering, Automobile and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering departments. More than 100 research scholars have presented their research papers.
MCA department has also organized three national conferences WINGS’06 (Wireless Information and Networking in Global Systems), WINGS’09 and WINGS’11 for the benefit of research community.

Organized Events

Every year, MCA department has organized numerous workshops, short term courses, and expert talks for the benefit of MCA students. We have conducted Faculty Development Programmes for the benefit of other college students

Rank Holders:

MCA department has produced 40 Anna University Rank Holders till today. Anna University is declaring 50 rank holders every year which includes rank holders from all engineering colleges. Our department has produced one or two rank holders every year. MCA department has produced a maximum of 11 rank holders in the year 2011.

Consultancy:

MCA department has implemented a consultancy project for Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) in the year 2003.

Research Proposal:

MCA department has sent many research proposal to DST, AICTE, ICMR. We have received a fund of Rs.3,21,000 to organize a STTP in 3 series in 2021.

Program Specific Objectives

PSO 1: Enables a student to implement a high performing system by selecting appropriate data model, Architecture and Platform.

PSO 2: Enable the students to design and develop application software for real time systems by integrating various system based components

PEO 1: To prepare the students for the future challenges in the field of computer applications by providing strong technical foundations

PEO 2: To provide students various computing skills like analysis, design, coding for the development of innovative software products to excel in their profession.

PEO 4: To motivate the students to function effectively in multi disciplinary teams, in various domains for the benefit of society

Program Outcomes (Pos)
PO1: Computational Knowledge: Apply knowledge of computing fundamentals, computing specialisation, mathematics, and domain knowledge appropriate for the computing specialisation to the abstraction and conceptualisation of computing models from defined problems and requirements.

PO2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and solve complex computing problems reaching substantiated conclusions using fundamental principles of mathematics, computing sciences, and relevant domain disciplines.

PO3: Design /Development of Solutions: Design and evaluate solutions for complex computing problems, and design and evaluate systems, components, or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4: Conduct investigations of complex Computing problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of t h e information to provide valid conclusions.

PO5: Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, adapt and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern computing tools to complex computing activities, with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6: Professional Ethics: Understand and commit to professional ethics and cyber regulations, responsibilities, and norms of professional computing practices.

PO7: Life-long Learning: Recognise the need, and have the ability, to engage in independent learning for continual development as a computing professional.

PO8: Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the computing and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

ASSOCIATION

The MCA Department started its association in the year 2002 in the association name 'EITA'- Emerging Information Technology & Association.
